| 13th May, 2016 |

• Eight more inspection stations planned by the end of 2017

• Aim: to be one of the three largest providers in the country in 2020

• DEKRA has been active in Portugal with other services for 25 years

The leading international expert organization DEKRA has opened its first vehicle inspection station in the greater Lisbon area. The company is planning eight additional stations to follow by the end of the coming year. This means that the world’s number one in vehicle inspections is now represented in Portugal with this service as well.

DEKRA experts inspect 26 million vehicles around the world every year. In Portugal, there are plans to reach a capacity of 200,000 vehicle inspections by the end of 2017. To achieve this, DEKRA is investing an eight-digit figure in nine new testing centers. In 2014, Portugal opened the market and issued new licenses for vehicle inspection stations.

“Our goal is to be one of the three largest providers in the area of periodic vehicle inspections in Portugal in 2020,” said Clemens member of the DEKRA SE Management Board and head of the DEKRA Automotive business unit. “We then want to perform a million vehicle inspections each year.”

DEKRA has been active in Portugal since 1991, providing other services, particularly in the field of used car management. The company currently employs 120 people in this country. With the launch of vehicle inspections and the expansion of other activities, a total of 200 new jobs are expected to be created by 2020.
